महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-132, verse-48

प्राणातिपाती यो रौद्रो दण्डहस्तोद्यतस्तथा ।
नित्यमुद्यतदण्डश्च हन्ति भूतगणान्नरः ॥४८॥
48. prāṇātipātī yo raudro daṇḍahastodyatastathā ,
nityamudyatadaṇḍaśca hanti bhūtagaṇānnaraḥ.
