तदिह जगतां वस्तु श्रेष्ठं न किंचन विद्यते विधिरुपहतः कुर्यान्नो यत्क्षणेन कलङ्कितम् ॥ ४२ ॥

On the mountain, which forms the rampart of the worlds' dwelling, the moon, like Mount Meru, is fully radiant, shining brightly. Still, a bee, stained with dirt, has taken refuge there. Thus, in this world, there exists nothing truly excellent (śreṣṭham) which fate (vidhiḥ), being flawed, cannot corrupt in an instant.
