महाभारतः mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-89, verse-38

तं समामष्टमीमुष्टं राजा वव्रे स्वयं तदा ।
पुरोहितो भवान्नोऽस्तु राज्याय प्रयतामहे ।
ओमित्येवं वसिष्ठोऽपि भारतान्प्रत्यपद्यत ॥३८॥

38. taṁ samāmaṣṭamīmuṣṭaṁ rājā vavre svayaṁ tadā ,
purohito bhavānno'stu rājyāya prayatāmahe ,
omityevaṁ vasiṣṭho'pi bhāratānpratyapadyata.

38. tam samām aṣṭamīm iṣṭam rājā vavre
svayam tadā purohitaḥ bhavān naḥ astu
rājyāya prayatāmahe om iti evam
vasiṣṭhaḥ api bhāratān pratyapadyata

38. The king then himself chose him, the one revered as equal to eight (sages). He said: 'May your reverence be our purohita; we strive for the kingdom.' Vasiṣṭha, too, agreed to the Bharatas, saying 'Om' (So be it).
