महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-89, verse-25

सुहोत्रे राजनि तदा धर्मतः शासति प्रजाः ।
चैत्ययूपाङ्किता चासीद्भूमिः शतसहस्रशः ।
प्रवृद्धजनसस्या च सहदेवा व्यरोचत ॥२५॥
25. suhotre rājani tadā dharmataḥ śāsati prajāḥ ,
caityayūpāṅkitā cāsīdbhūmiḥ śatasahasraśaḥ ,
pravṛddhajanasasyā ca sahadevā vyarocata.

25. When King Suhotra was ruling the subjects righteously, then the land was marked in hundreds of thousands with caityas (memorial shrines) and yūpas (sacrificial posts). And, flourishing with people and crops, it shone with divine glory.
