सेनां संप्रेषयामास भूतलं देवनाशिनीम् ॥ १ ॥

Śrī Vasiṣṭha said: Having thus made his decision, the king of the demons (daitya) dispatched his army, which was accompanied by formidable and fierce demonic hordes, to the earthly realm (bhūtala), an army capable of destroying the gods.
