मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-76, verse-9

स्वार्थे प्रसक्ता मार्जारी प्रसक्तं मामवेक्षते ।
तथान्तर्धानगा चैव द्वितीया जातहारिणी ॥९॥
9. svārthe prasaktā mārjārī prasaktaṃ māmavekṣate .
tathāntardhānagā caiva dvitīyā jātahāriṇī.
9. svārthe prasaktā mārjārī prasaktam mām avekṣate
tathā antardhānagā ca eva dvitīyā jātahāriṇī
9. The cat, intent on its own interest, watches me, who am also absorbed [in my own concerns]. And likewise, the second one, who disappears after stealing offspring (jātahāriṇī).
