अन्यजन्मनि जातोऽसौ चक्षुषः परमेष्ठिनः ।
चाक्षुषत्वमतस्तस्य जन्मन्यस्मिन्नपि द्विज ॥२॥

In a previous life, this one (Manu) was born from Cākṣuṣa Parameṣṭhin. Therefore, O twice-born (dvija), he is known as Cākṣuṣa (Cākṣuṣatva) even in this present birth.
