तद्युद्धं सुमहच्चासीद्घोररूपं परंतप ।
यादृशं न मया युद्धं दृष्टपूर्वं विशां पते ॥५३॥

53. tadyuddhaṁ sumahaccāsīdghorarūpaṁ paraṁtapa ,
yādṛśaṁ na mayā yuddhaṁ dṛṣṭapūrvaṁ viśāṁ pate.

yādṛśaṃ na mayā yuddhaṃ dṛṣṭapūrvaṃ viśām pate

53. parantapa tat yuddhaṃ sumahat ca ghorarūpaṃ āsīt
viśām pate mayā yādṛśaṃ yuddhaṃ dṛṣṭapūrvaṃ na

53. That battle, O scorcher of foes (parantapa), was indeed very great and frightful in its nature. I had never before seen such a battle, O lord of men (viśāṃ pate).
