महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-8, chapter-44, verse-19

सोऽतिविद्धो महेष्वासः सूतपुत्रेण संयुगे ।
कर्णं विव्याध समरे नवत्या निशितैः शरैः ॥१९॥
19. so'tividdho maheṣvāsaḥ sūtaputreṇa saṁyuge ,
karṇaṁ vivyādha samare navatyā niśitaiḥ śaraiḥ.

19. Though deeply wounded by the son of Sūta (Karna) in battle, that great archer (Shikhaṇḍī) in turn struck Karna with ninety sharp arrows.
