महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-5, chapter-127, verse-33

सततं निग्रहे युक्त इन्द्रियाणां भवेन्नृपः ।
ईप्सन्नर्थं च धर्मं च द्विषतां च पराभवम् ॥३३॥
33. satataṁ nigrahe yukta indriyāṇāṁ bhavennṛpaḥ ,
īpsannarthaṁ ca dharmaṁ ca dviṣatāṁ ca parābhavam.
33. satatam nigrahe yuktaḥ indriyāṇām bhavet nṛpaḥ
īpsan artham ca dharmam ca dviṣatām ca parābhavam
33. nṛpaḥ satatam indriyāṇām nigrahe yuktaḥ bhavet,
(saḥ) artham ca dharmam ca dviṣatām ca parābhavam īpsan
33. A king should constantly be disciplined in the restraint of his senses, desiring both material prosperity (artha) and righteousness (dharma), as well as the defeat of his enemies.
