महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-5, chapter-127, verse-25

इन्द्रियाणि महत्प्रेप्सुर्नियच्छेदर्थधर्मयोः ।
इन्द्रियैर्नियतैर्बुद्धिर्वर्धतेऽग्निरिवेन्धनैः ॥२५॥
25. indriyāṇi mahatprepsurniyacchedarthadharmayoḥ ,
indriyairniyatairbuddhirvardhate'gnirivendhanaiḥ.

indriyaiḥ niyataiḥ buddhiḥ vardhate agniḥ iva indhanaiḥ

25. A person desiring great things should restrain their senses in matters of wealth and natural law (dharma). When the senses are controlled, the intellect (buddhi) grows, just as fire increases with fuel.
