महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-14, chapter-57, verse-30

उत्तङ्क उवाच ।
नागलोके यदि ब्रह्मन्न शक्ये कुण्डले मया ।
प्राप्तुं प्राणान्विमोक्ष्यामि पश्यतस्ते द्विजोत्तम ॥३०॥
30. uttaṅka uvāca ,
nāgaloke yadi brahmanna śakye kuṇḍale mayā ,
prāptuṁ prāṇānvimokṣyāmi paśyataste dvijottama.
30. uttaṅkaḥ uvāca nāgaloke yadi brahman na śakye kuṇḍale
mayā prāptum prāṇān vimokṣyāmi paśyataḥ te dvijottama
30. uttaṅkaḥ uvāca yadi brahman nāgaloke mayā kuṇḍale na śakye
prāptum (tarhi) dvijottama te paśyataḥ prāṇān vimokṣyāmi
30. Uttanka said: 'O (brahmin), if those earrings cannot be obtained by me in the serpent-world (nāgaloka), then, O best of brahmins, I will give up my life while you watch.'
