महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-70, verse-43

शापो ह्ययं भवतोऽनुग्रहाय प्राप्तो मया यत्र दृष्टो यमो मे ।
दानव्युष्टिं तत्र दृष्ट्वा महार्थां निःसंदिग्धं दानधर्मांश्चरिष्ये ॥४३॥
43. śāpo hyayaṁ bhavato'nugrahāya; prāpto mayā yatra dṛṣṭo yamo me ,
dānavyuṣṭiṁ tatra dṛṣṭvā mahārthāṁ; niḥsaṁdigdhaṁ dānadharmāṁścariṣye.
43. śāpaḥ hi ayam bhavataḥ anugrahāya
prāptaḥ mayā yatra dṛṣṭaḥ yamaḥ me
dānavyūṣṭim tatra dṛṣṭvā mahārthām
niḥsandigdham dānadharmān cariṣye
43. ayam śāpaḥ hi anugrahāya mayā prāptaḥ,
yatra me yamaḥ dṛṣṭaḥ.
tatra mahārthām dānavyūṣṭim dṛṣṭvā,
niḥsandigdham dānadharmān cariṣye.
43. This curse was indeed received by me as a blessing, for it was there that Yama was seen by me. Having witnessed there the greatly valuable fruit of giving (dāna), I shall undoubtedly practice the principles of giving (dāna).
