महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-13, chapter-47, verse-24

स्त्रीणां तु पतिदायाद्यमुपभोगफलं स्मृतम् ।
नापहारं स्त्रियः कुर्युः पतिवित्तात्कथंचन ॥२४॥
24. strīṇāṁ tu patidāyādyamupabhogaphalaṁ smṛtam ,
nāpahāraṁ striyaḥ kuryuḥ pativittātkathaṁcana.

24. For women, the inheritance from the husband is considered to be for the purpose of enjoyment. Women should by no means embezzle or take away their husband's property.
