महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-323, verse-10

न तत्र पशुघातोऽभूत्स राजैवं स्थितोऽभवत् ।
अहिंस्रः शुचिरक्षुद्रो निराशीः कर्मसंस्तुतः ।
आरण्यकपदोद्गीता भागास्तत्रोपकल्पिताः ॥१०॥
10. na tatra paśughāto'bhūtsa rājaivaṁ sthito'bhavat ,
ahiṁsraḥ śucirakṣudro nirāśīḥ karmasaṁstutaḥ ,
āraṇyakapadodgītā bhāgāstatropakalpitāḥ.
10. na tatra paśu-ghātaḥ abhūt saḥ rājā
evam sthitaḥ abhavat ahiṃsraḥ śuciḥ
akṣudraḥ nirāśīḥ karma-saṃstutaḥ
āraṇyaka-pada-udgītāḥ bhāgāḥ tatra upakalpitāḥ
10. tatra paśu-ghātaḥ na abhūt saḥ rājā
evam ahiṃsraḥ śuciḥ akṣudraḥ nirāśīḥ
karma-saṃstutaḥ sthitaḥ abhavat tatra
āraṇyaka-pada-udgītāḥ bhāgāḥ upakalpitāḥ
10. No animal slaughter occurred there; that king (rājan) was established in such a way. He was non-violent, pure, noble, free from desires, and highly regarded for his actions (karma). There, the portions as proclaimed in the Āraṇyakas were provided.
