एकपुत्रः पिता पुत्रे नष्टे वा प्रोषिते तथा ।
प्रवृत्तिं यो न जानाति साशा कृशतरी मया ॥४१॥

41. ekaputraḥ pitā putre naṣṭe vā proṣite tathā ,
pravṛttiṁ yo na jānāti sāśā kṛśatarī mayā.

41. sā āśā mayā kṛśatarī (asti) yatra ekaputraḥ pitā putre naṣṭe vā proṣite tathā (sati),

41. The hope (āśā) that a father with an only son – when that son is lost or gone abroad and the father has no knowledge of his fate – will find solace or resolution, that hope has been diminished by me.
