महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-126, verse-32

आशा हि पुरुषं बालं लालापयति तस्थुषी ।
तामहं व्यपनेष्यामि इति कृत्वा व्यवस्थितः ॥३२॥
32. āśā hi puruṣaṁ bālaṁ lālāpayati tasthuṣī ,
tāmahaṁ vyapaneṣyāmi iti kṛtvā vyavasthitaḥ.

tām aham vyapaneṣyāmi iti kṛtvā vyavasthitaḥ
32. hi tasthūṣī āśā bālam puruṣam lālāpayati iti kṛtvā,
aham tām vyapaneṣyāmi vyavasthitaḥ.
32. Indeed, hope (āśā), which stands firm, causes a foolish person to prattle idly. Having made this resolution, "I shall dispel her (hope)," I became resolute.
