श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच ।
इति कुम्भवचो राजा भावयंस्तदकृत्रिमम् ।
स्वयमात्मपदे तस्मिन्क्षणं परिणतोऽभवत् ॥ १ ॥

1. Śrī Vasiṣṭha said: Contemplating thus Kumbha's genuine words, the king himself became transformed for a moment into that state of the self (ātman).
