तत्र ते पेततुर्देव्यौ ग्रामेऽन्तःशीतलात्मनि ।
भोगमोक्षश्रियौ शान्ते पुंसीव विदितात्मनि ॥ १ ॥

Śrī Vasiṣṭha said: There, those two goddesses—the embodiments of worldly enjoyment and liberation (mokṣa)—descended into a village whose inner essence (ātman) was serene, just as [these two aspects reside] within a peaceful person who has realized the Self (ātman).
