मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-20, verse-24

सन्ति शास्त्रविदोऽशीलाः सन्ति मूर्खाः सुशीलिनः ।
शास्त्रशीले समं मन्ये पुत्रौ धन्यतरन्तु तम् ॥२४॥
24. santi śāstravido'śīlāḥ santi mūrkhāḥ suśīlinaḥ .

24. santi śāstravidaḥ aśīlāḥ santi mūrkhāḥ suśīlinaḥ
| śāstraśīle samam manye putrau dhanyataram tu tam
24. Some are learned in scriptures but lack good conduct; others are fools but possess good conduct. I consider two sons to be equally (excellent) in terms of both scriptural knowledge and character, but indeed, that (son who combines both) is even more blessed.
