महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-8, chapter-56, verse-13

ततः शरशतैस्तीक्ष्णैः कर्णोऽप्याकर्णनिःसृतैः ।
जघान पाण्डवबलं शतशोऽथ सहस्रशः ॥१३॥
13. tataḥ śaraśataistīkṣṇaiḥ karṇo'pyākarṇaniḥsṛtaiḥ ,
jaghāna pāṇḍavabalaṁ śataśo'tha sahasraśaḥ.

13. Then, Karṇa also, with sharp arrows released up to the ear, struck the Pāṇḍava army by hundreds and by thousands.
