महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-7, chapter-106, verse-42

कर्णस्तु रथिनां श्रेष्ठश्छाद्यमानः समन्ततः ।
राजन्व्यसृजदुग्राणि शरवर्षाणि संयुगे ॥४२॥
42. karṇastu rathināṁ śreṣṭhaśchādyamānaḥ samantataḥ ,
rājanvyasṛjadugrāṇi śaravarṣāṇi saṁyuge.
42. कर्णः तु रथिनाम् श्रेष्ठः छाद्यमानः समन्ततः
राजन् व्यसृजत् उग्राणि शरवर्षाणि संयुगे

42. O King, even though Karna, the foremost among charioteers, was being overwhelmed from all sides, he unleashed fierce showers of arrows in battle.
