मृदुपूर्वं च राधेयो भीममाजावयोधयत् ।
क्रोधपूर्वं तथा भीमः पूर्ववैरमनुस्मरन् ॥३८॥

krodhapūrvaṁ tathā bhīmaḥ pūrvavairamanusmaran.

38. Karna fought Bhima in battle, gently at first. But then, Bhima, remembering their past hostility, fought back with anger.
