महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-2, chapter-16, verse-8

एको ह्येव श्रियं नित्यं बिभर्ति पुरुषर्षभ ।
अन्तरात्मेव भूतानां तत्क्षये वै बलक्षयः ॥८॥
8. eko hyeva śriyaṁ nityaṁ bibharti puruṣarṣabha ,
antarātmeva bhūtānāṁ tatkṣaye vai balakṣayaḥ.
8. ekaḥ hi eva śriyam nityam bibharti puruṣarṣabha
antar ātmā iva bhūtānām tat kṣaye vai balakṣayaḥ
8. Indeed, only one individual perpetually sustains prosperity, O best of men. Just as the inner self (ātman) pervades and sustains all beings, so too, upon that individual's downfall, there is certainly a decline of power.
