महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-18, chapter-5, verse-5

आहोस्विच्छाश्वतं स्थानं तेषां तत्र द्विजोत्तम ।
अन्ते वा कर्मणः कां ते गतिं प्राप्ता नरर्षभाः ।
एतदिच्छाम्यहं श्रोतुं प्रोच्यमानं त्वया द्विज ॥५॥
5. āhosvicchāśvataṁ sthānaṁ teṣāṁ tatra dvijottama ,
ante vā karmaṇaḥ kāṁ te gatiṁ prāptā nararṣabhāḥ ,
etadicchāmyahaṁ śrotuṁ procyamānaṁ tvayā dvija.
5. āhosvid śāśvatam sthānam teṣām tatra
dvijottama ante vā karmaṇaḥ kām te
gatim prāptā nararṣabhāḥ etat icchāmi
aham śrotum procyamānam tvayā dvija
5. dvijottama teṣām tatra śāśvatam sthānam
āhosvid vā karmaṇaḥ ante te
nararṣabhāḥ kām gatim prāptā dvija tvayā
procyamānam etat aham śrotum icchāmi
5. O best among the twice-born (dvija), did they attain an eternal abode there? Or, at the end of their actions (karma), what state did those eminent men achieve? This I wish to hear, told by you, O twice-born (dvija).
