महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-18, chapter-5, verse-21

षोडशस्त्रीसहस्राणि वासुदेवपरिग्रहः ।
न्यमज्जन्त सरस्वत्यां कालेन जनमेजय ।
ताश्चाप्यप्सरसो भूत्वा वासुदेवमुपागमन् ॥२१॥
21. ṣoḍaśastrīsahasrāṇi vāsudevaparigrahaḥ ,
nyamajjanta sarasvatyāṁ kālena janamejaya ,
tāścāpyapsaraso bhūtvā vāsudevamupāgaman.

21. O Janamejaya, in time, the sixteen thousand consorts of Vasudeva (Kṛṣṇa) immersed themselves in the Sarasvati river. They then became celestial nymphs (apsaras) and approached Vasudeva.
