महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-18, chapter-5, verse-49

ऊर्ध्वबाहुर्विरौम्येष न च कश्चिच्छृणोति मे ।
धर्मादर्थश्च कामश्च स किमर्थं न सेव्यते ॥४९॥
49. ūrdhvabāhurviraumyeṣa na ca kaścicchṛṇoti me ,
dharmādarthaśca kāmaśca sa kimarthaṁ na sevyate.
49. ūrdhvabāhuḥ viroumi eṣa na ca kaścit śṛṇoti me
dharmāt arthaḥ ca kāmaḥ ca saḥ kim artham na sevyate
49. eṣa ūrdhvabāhuḥ viroumi na ca kaścit me śṛṇoti
dharmāt arthaḥ ca kāmaḥ ca saḥ kim artham na sevyate
49. With uplifted arms, I cry out, yet no one hears me. From natural law (dharma) come both prosperity and the fulfillment of desires (kāma); for what reason then is it not followed?
