महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-84, verse-27

केवलात्पुनराचारात्कर्मणो नोपपद्यते ।
परिमर्शो विशेषाणामश्रुतस्येह दुर्मतेः ॥२७॥
27. kevalātpunarācārātkarmaṇo nopapadyate ,
parimarśo viśeṣāṇāmaśrutasyeha durmateḥ.
27. kevalāt punaḥ ācārāt karmaṇaḥ na upapadyate
| parimarśaḥ viśeṣāṇām aśrutasya iha durmateḥ
27. iha durmateḥ aśrutasya,
kevalāt punaḥ ācārāt karmaṇaḥ (vā),
viśeṣāṇām parimarśaḥ na upapadyate.
27. For a foolish person (durmateḥ) who has not learned (aśrutasya), insight (parimarśaḥ) into particular distinctions (viśeṣāṇām) is not attained in this world (iha) merely through traditional conduct (ācārāt) or (ritual) action (karma).
