महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-11, chapter-16, verse-27

तान्सुपर्णाश्च गृध्राश्च निष्कर्षन्त्यसृगुक्षितान् ।
निगृह्य कवचेषूग्रा भक्षयन्ति सहस्रशः ॥२७॥
27. tānsuparṇāśca gṛdhrāśca niṣkarṣantyasṛgukṣitān ,
nigṛhya kavaceṣūgrā bhakṣayanti sahasraśaḥ.

27. Eagles and vultures drag those warriors, drenched in blood, from the battlefield. Fierce predators grasp them even in their armor and devour them by the thousands.
