महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-11, chapter-16, verse-26

पाञ्चालानां कुरूणां च विनाशं मधुसूदन ।
पञ्चानामिव भूतानां नाहं वधमचिन्तयम् ॥२६॥
26. pāñcālānāṁ kurūṇāṁ ca vināśaṁ madhusūdana ,
pañcānāmiva bhūtānāṁ nāhaṁ vadhamacintayam.

pañcānām iva bhūtānām na aham vadham acintayam

26. O Madhusūdana, I did not anticipate the destruction of the Pāñcālas and the Kurus, any more than one would expect the annihilation of the five fundamental elements (bhūta).
