योगवासिष्ठः yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-7, chapter-145, verse-58

पश्यत्येतद्यथैवान्तरेष जीवो वशीकृतः ।
वातपित्तादिवलितो बहिर्वेत्त्येवमेति वा ॥ ५८ ॥

paśyatyetadyathaivāntareṣa jīvo vaśīkṛtaḥ ,
vātapittādivalito bahirvettyevameti vā 58

58. paśyati etat yathā eva antaḥ eṣa jīvaḥ vaśīkṛtaḥ
vāta-pitta-ādi-valitaḥ bahiḥ vetti evam eti vā

58. yathā eva eṣa jīvaḥ antaḥ vaśīkṛtaḥ vāta-pitta-ādi-valitaḥ (san) etat paśyati,
(tathā saḥ) bahiḥ vetti vā evam eti.

58. Just as this living being (jīva), controlled and agitated by vāta, pitta, and other humors (doṣas) internally, perceives this, so too does it understand (vetti) externally, or rather, it becomes (eti) that way.
