वात्पित्तश्लेष्मयुक्तो जीव आपूर्यते यदा ।
भागैर्वातवशं प्राप्तैरार्तोऽसौ विन्दते तदा ॥ ४० ॥

vātpittaśleṣmayukto jīva āpūryate yadā ,
bhāgairvātavaśaṃ prāptairārto'sau vindate tadā 40

40. vātapittaśleṣmayuktaḥ jīvaḥ āpūryate yadā bhāgaiḥ
vātavaśam prāptaiḥ ārtaḥ asau vindate tadā

40. yadā jīvaḥ vātapittaśleṣmayuktaḥ vātavaśam
prāptaiḥ bhāgaiḥ āpūryate tadā asau ārtaḥ vindate

40. When a living being (jīva) becomes permeated with vāta, pitta, and śleṣma, and especially by elements that have fallen under the sway of vāta, then that afflicted individual experiences distress.
