योगवासिष्ठः       yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-3, chapter-55, verse-49

यन्नाम सुषिरं स्थानं देहानां तद्गतोऽनिलः ।
करोत्यङ्गपरिस्पन्दं जीवतीत्युच्यते ततः ॥ ४९ ॥
yannāma suṣiraṃ sthānaṃ dehānāṃ tadgato'nilaḥ ,
karotyaṅgaparispandaṃ jīvatītyucyate tataḥ 49
49. yat nāma suṣiram sthānam dehānām tat gataḥ anilaḥ
karoti aṅgaparispandam jīvati iti ucyate tataḥ
49. dehānām yat nāma suṣiram sthānam tat gataḥ anilaḥ
aṅgaparispandam karoti tataḥ jīvati iti ucyate
49. The vital breath (prāṇa) that enters the hollow spaces within bodies, which are thus named, causes the movement of the limbs. Because of this, it is said that one is alive.
