योगवासिष्ठः yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-3, chapter-54, verse-66

यथा लतायाः पर्वाणि दीर्घाया मध्यमध्यतः ।
तथा चेतनसत्ताया जन्मानि मरणानि च ॥ ६६ ॥

66. Just as a long creeper has segments at intervals, so too, for conscious existence (cetana sattā), there are births and deaths.
