मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-128, verse-9

अविक्षिदुवाच ।
यद्येभिर्निहता विप्रा यास्यन्ति नरकं मृताः ।
ममैतत्कियतां वाक्यं विरमास्त्रप्रयोगतः ॥९॥
9. avikṣiduvāca .
yadyebhirnihatā viprā yāsyanti narakaṃ mṛtāḥ .
mamaitatkiyatāṃ vākyaṃ viramāstraprayogataḥ.
9. avikṣit uvāca yadi ebhiḥ nihatāḥ viprāḥ yāsyanti narakaṃ
mṛtāḥ mama etat kriyatāṃ vākyaṃ virama astraprayogataḥ
9. Avikṣit said: 'If the Brahmins killed by these (serpents) are destined to go to hell upon their death, then let this request of mine be granted: cease from deploying your weapon.'
