मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-128, verse-8

जलाशयास्तथाप्येतैः सर्व एव हि दूषिताः ।
तदेत्कारणं किञ्चिन्न वक्तव्यं त्वया पितः ।
न निवारयितव्योऽहं ब्रह्मघ्नान्प्रतिपन्नगान् ॥८॥
8. jalāśayāstathāpyetaiḥ sarva eva hi dūṣitāḥ .
tadetkāraṇaṃ kiñcinna vaktavyaṃ tvayā pitaḥ .
na nivārayitavyo'haṃ brahmaghnānpratipannagān.
8. jalāśayāḥ tathā api etaiḥ sarve eva
hi dūṣitāḥ tat etat kāraṇaṃ kiñcit na
vaktavyaṃ tvayā pitaḥ na nivārayitavyaḥ
ahaṃ brahmaghnān pratipannagān
8. Nevertheless, all the water bodies have indeed been contaminated by these (serpents). Therefore, O father, you should not offer any reason [to dissuade me]. I should not be prevented from [punishing] these Brahmin-killers who have transformed into serpents.
