मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-128, verse-31

मरुत्त उवाच ।
मया दुष्टा निहन्तव्याः सन्तो रक्ष्या महीक्षिता ।
इमे च दुष्टा भुजगाः कोऽपराधोऽत्र मे द्विजाः ॥३१॥
31. marutta uvāca .
mayā duṣṭā nihantavyāḥ santo rakṣyā mahīkṣitā .
ime ca duṣṭā bhujagāḥ ko'parādho'tra me dvijāḥ.
31. maruttaḥ uvāca | mayā duṣṭāḥ nihantavyāḥ santaḥ rakṣyāḥ
mahīkṣitā | ime ca duṣṭāḥ bhujagāḥ kaḥ aparādhaḥ atra me dvijāḥ
31. Marutta said: 'It is by me that the wicked must be killed, and good people must be protected by a king. These serpents are indeed wicked. So, what fault is there in me regarding this, O Brahmins (dvija)?'
