महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-5, chapter-9, verse-42

तस्माच्छक्रवधार्थाय वृत्रमुत्पादयाम्यहम् ।
लोकाः पश्यन्तु मे वीर्यं तपसश्च बलं महत् ।
स च पश्यतु देवेन्द्रो दुरात्मा पापचेतनः ॥४२॥
42. tasmācchakravadhārthāya vṛtramutpādayāmyaham ,
lokāḥ paśyantu me vīryaṁ tapasaśca balaṁ mahat ,
sa ca paśyatu devendro durātmā pāpacetanaḥ.
42. tasmāt śakravadhārthāya vṛtram
utpādayāmi aham lokāḥ paśyantu me vīryam
tapasaḥ ca balam mahat saḥ ca
paśyatu devendraḥ durātmā pāpacetanaḥ
42. Therefore, I will create Vṛtra to slay Indra. Let the worlds behold my prowess and the great power of my austerity (tapas). And let that wicked-souled, evil-minded lord of gods also witness it.
