महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-5, chapter-9, verse-24

तं तु वज्रहतं दृष्ट्वा शयानमचलोपमम् ।
न शर्म लेभे देवेन्द्रो दीपितस्तस्य तेजसा ।
हतोऽपि दीप्ततेजाः स जीवन्निव च दृश्यते ॥२४॥
24. taṁ tu vajrahataṁ dṛṣṭvā śayānamacalopamam ,
na śarma lebhe devendro dīpitastasya tejasā ,
hato'pi dīptatejāḥ sa jīvanniva ca dṛśyate.
24. tam tu vajrahatam dṛṣṭvā śayānam
acalopamam | na śarma lebhe devendraḥ
dīpitaḥ tasya tejasā | hataḥ api
dīptatejāḥ saḥ jīvan iva ca dṛśyate
24. But having seen him, struck by the thunderbolt and lying like a mountain, Indra, the king of the gods, found no peace, for he was still inflamed by his radiance. Even though slain, he appeared to be of blazing splendor, as if alive.
