महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-3, chapter-163, verse-49

उवाच च महादेवो दत्त्वा मेऽस्त्रं सनातनम् ।
न प्रयोज्यं भवेदेतन्मानुषेषु कथंचन ॥४९॥
49. uvāca ca mahādevo dattvā me'straṁ sanātanam ,
na prayojyaṁ bhavedetanmānuṣeṣu kathaṁcana.
49. uvāca ca mahādevaḥ dattvā me astram sanātanam
na prayojyam bhavet etat mānuṣeṣu kathaṃcana
49. And the Great God (Mahādeva), having bestowed upon me the eternal (sanātana) weapon, said: "This weapon should never, under any circumstances, be used against human beings."
