नित्योपलेपनम् धर्मः तथा नित्योपवासिता (च धर्मः)च गृहे सुसंमृष्टोपलिप्ते साज्यधूमोद्गमे (अवस्था अपि धर्मः)।

Daily smearing (of the dwelling) is considered proper conduct (dharma), and so too is constant fasting. Maintaining a home that is well-swept and smeared, and from which the smoke of ghee rises, is also part of this conduct.
