भगवन्संशयं पृष्टस्तं मे व्याख्यातुमर्हसि ।

bhagavansaṁśayaṁ pṛṣṭastaṁ me vyākhyātumarhasi ,
cāturvarṇyasya yo dharmaḥ sve sve varṇe guṇāvahaḥ.

Umā spoke: 'O venerable one, I have asked a doubt; you ought to explain to me which constitution (dharma) of the four social classes (varṇas) is beneficial for each respective class.'
