महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-56, verse-22

अदण्ड्याश्चैव ते नित्यं विप्राः स्युर्ददतां वर ।
भूतमेतत्परं लोके ब्राह्मणा नाम भारत ॥२२॥
22. adaṇḍyāścaiva te nityaṁ viprāḥ syurdadatāṁ vara ,
bhūtametatparaṁ loke brāhmaṇā nāma bhārata.

vara bhūtam etat param loke brāhmaṇāḥ nāma bhārata
22. dadataām vara bhārata ca eva te viprāḥ nityam

22. O best of givers, indeed, these Brahmins should always be exempt from punishment. In this world, O Bhārata, Brahmins are truly the supreme beings.
