महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-12, chapter-56, verse-17

न हि सत्यादृते किंचिद्राज्ञां वै सिद्धिकारणम् ।
सत्ये हि राजा निरतः प्रेत्य चेह च नन्दति ॥१७॥
17. na hi satyādṛte kiṁcidrājñāṁ vai siddhikāraṇam ,
satye hi rājā nirataḥ pretya ceha ca nandati.
17. na hi satyāt ṛte kiñcit rājñām vai siddhi-kāraṇam
| satye hi rājā nirataḥ pretya ca iha ca nandati
17. rājnām vai siddhi-kāraṇam satyāt ṛte kiñcit na hi
satye hi rājā nirataḥ iha ca pretya ca nandati
17. Truly, for kings, there is no cause of success other than truth. Indeed, a king devoted to truth prospers both in this world and the next.
