महाभारतः       mahābhārataḥ - book-1, chapter-155, verse-52

अमोक्षणीयं दैवं हि भावि मत्वा महामतिः ।
तथा तत्कृतवान्द्रोण आत्मकीर्त्यनुरक्षणात् ॥५२॥
52. amokṣaṇīyaṁ daivaṁ hi bhāvi matvā mahāmatiḥ ,
tathā tatkṛtavāndroṇa ātmakīrtyanurakṣaṇāt.
52. amokṣaṇīyam daivam hi bhāvi matvā mahāmatiḥ
tathā tat kṛtavān droṇaḥ ātmakīrtyanurakṣaṇāt
52. Indeed, the great-minded Droṇa, considering that destiny (daiva) is unavoidable and imminent, did that for the preservation of his own reputation (ātman).
