योगवासिष्ठः       yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-7, chapter-6, verse-42

तावदुत्तमतामेति पुमानपि दिवौकसाम् ।
कृपणैरिन्द्रियैर्यावत्तृणवन्नापकृष्यते ॥ ४२ ॥
tāvaduttamatāmeti pumānapi divaukasām ,
kṛpaṇairindriyairyāvattṛṇavannāpakṛṣyate 42
42. tāvat uttamatām eti pumān api divaukasām
kṛpaṇaiḥ indriyaiḥ yāvat tṛṇavat na apakṛṣyate
42. yāvat kṛpaṇaiḥ indriyaiḥ tṛṇavat na apakṛṣyate,
tāvat pumān divaukasām api uttamatām eti
42. A person achieves the excellence (uttamātā) even of the gods as long as he is not pulled down like a blade of grass by his feeble senses.
