योगवासिष्ठः       yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-7, chapter-6, verse-16

तावदायाति विरतिं न वशं यावदापदाम् ।
नानाबन्धपरं चेतः परानर्थेहितोन्मुखम् ॥ १६ ॥
tāvadāyāti viratiṃ na vaśaṃ yāvadāpadām ,
nānābandhaparaṃ cetaḥ parānarthehitonmukham 16

nānā-bandha-param cetaḥ para-anartha-īhita-unmukham

cetaḥ yāvat āpadām vaśam na tāvat viratim na āyāti
16. The mind (cetas), which is devoted to various attachments and inclined towards desiring the misfortune of others, does not attain dispassion (virati) until it comes under the sway of calamities.
