योगवासिष्ठः       yogavāsiṣṭhaḥ - book-7, chapter-106, verse-26

इदमादावनुत्पन्नं कारणाभावतः किल ।
कारणेन विना कार्यं न हि नामोपपद्यते ॥ २६ ॥
idamādāvanutpannaṃ kāraṇābhāvataḥ kila ,
kāraṇena vinā kāryaṃ na hi nāmopapadyate 26
26. idam ādau anutpannam kāraṇābhāvataḥ kila
kāraṇena vinā kāryam na hi nāma upapadyate
26. idam ādau kāraṇābhāvataḥ kila anutpannam
hi kāraṇena vinā kāryam na nāma upapadyate
26. This (duality) was unoriginated in the beginning, certainly due to the absence of a cause. Indeed, an effect cannot arise without a cause.
