पितरश्चन्द्रहोरेशा देवाः सूर्यस्य कीर्तिताः ।
राशेरर्द्धं भवेद्धोरा ताश्चतुर्विंशतिः स्मृता ।
मेषादि तासां होराणां परिवृत्तिद्वयं भवेत् ॥६॥

6. pitaraścandrahoreśā devāḥ sūryasya kīrtitāḥ .

pitaraḥ candrahorāīśāḥ devāḥ sūryasya

The ancestors (pitaraḥ) are said to preside over the Moon's horā, while the deities (devāḥ) are declared to preside over the Sun's horā. A horā is half of a zodiacal sign, and there are twenty-four such horās in total. Starting from Aries, there are two recurring cycles for the rulership of these horās.
