मार्कण्डेय-पुराणम्       mārkaṇḍeya-purāṇam - chapter-22, verse-18

युध्यमानो यथाशक्ति निघ्नन् ब्रह्मद्विषो युधि ।
मायामाश्रित्य पापेन भिन्नः शूलेन वक्षसी ॥१८॥
18. yudhyamāno yathāśakti nighnan brahmadviṣo yudhi .

18. Fighting with full might and slaying the enemies of the sacred (brahma-dviṣaḥ) in battle, he was pierced in the chest by a wicked person, who had resorted to illusion (māyā), with a spear.
